 General Information

Ryan has been in the AGEC department for 11 of his 12 years at Purdue. He came to Purdue in the Fall of 2008 as a freshmen studying Ag Systems Management. Coming from a family farm with plans to return to upon graduation, he initially contemplated getting an Associates Degree to get back as quick as possible with degree in hand. Well, boy do things change. Ryan loves and misses the farm, but he quickly discovered that his contribution to agriculture (an industry that feeds, fuels and clothes the world) was going to be through connecting and developing young talent to enter the workforce. His passion is people and enjoys watching students develop and mature. This passion has been displayed the last five years through advising and teaching in the department, where is professional career began after graduating with his Masters in AGEC.
Fun facts about Ryan:

Ryan grew up an avid Boilermaker sports fan from the beginning; his experiences on campus have given him a much greater appreciation for the whole institution – filled with more pride for Athletics, too, especially the years he watched friends compete. The farm he grew up on was a conventional row-crop (corn, beans & wheat) farm of 3000+ acres with experiments of Sudan grass, canola, rye, barley, sunflowers and hay. Early in childhood the farm was farrow-to-finish hogs and finishing beef cattle, but Ryan and his older brother transformed it through 4H projects becoming business ventures to finishing contract hogs and cow-calf. During his first couple summers of college, Ryan returned to the farm to work, but once he started getting experiences off the farm he realized the eminence value internships provided, even if still returning to the farm. During his time on campus, Ryan has been involved with FarmHouse Fraternity, Old Masters, Rising Professionals, Dance Marathon, Boiler Gold Rush, Big Man on Campus, Greek IV, Farm Bureau, Purdue Athletics, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Rec Sports referee, nearly all Intramurals, Learning Communities, Faculty Fellows, University Undergraduate Academic Advising and Clear River Church.
