 General Information

Andy Oppy serves as Associate Director of Academic Advisor and Career Services for undergraduate students in the Department of Agricultural Economics – Purdue University. In this position he advises undergraduates in academic, career, and personal planning. Andy works one on one with industry recruiters to connect them with qualified candidates. He also works to recruit incoming students, assist with scholarship distribution and supports the Academic Coordinator and Director of Advising with various other functions of the department.

In the classroom, Andy instructs the AGR 112, Introduction to Agricultural Economics course; an orientation course for first year students. He also leads AGEC 260; a course to train upperclassman mentors who interact and lead AGR 112 students. As Career Services Coordinator, he also leads the AGEC 289, Foundational Internship class which enables students to earn credit for their internship experience.

Andy is also very involved on campus with both professional and student organizations. He serves as the advisor to multiple student organizations including the Agricultural Economics Envoys and the Purdue Agribusiness Club. He is also involved with the Purdue Academic Advising Association, having chaired the Professional Development committee as well as serving as the Steering Committee Chairman.

Off campus, Andy has been involved with several community activities including the North Montgomery FFA Advisory Board, Montgomery County Farm Bureau Board as well as Indiana Young Farmers and Ranchers. For the past several years, Andy has also served as a national scholastics judge for the Distinguished Young Women scholarship program.

Prior to joining the Agricultural Economics Department, Andy worked as a Commercial/Agricultural Lender for Regions Bank in Frankfort, IN. While working in Frankfort, he was involved with the County Extension Learning to Lead program, as well as Clinton County 4-H. Andy was also an active member of the Frankfort Jaycees and the Indiana Junior Miss board of directors, serving as the 2009 program Chairman.
